The Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios in Paralimni, is built in the same place where two other Churches are found, the one of Agios Georgios and the one of Agia Anna, as well as the Metropolis (Diocese) of Constance and Ammochostos.
It is a very big Church, that has a capacity of 2000 believers. It has a byzantine style, it is cruciform and has a dome.
The inauguration of the church was put in place by the Archbishop of Cyprus of that period, Makarios III. For the record, it should be noted that the square in which the 3 Churches and the Metropolis are found, was a part of “Ai-Giorki’s orchard”, a place that still exists today and is included in the plan of a small park. Unfortunately, human fury for plots of land destroyed a huge orange orchard and transformed it into shops and streets.
