Years back, the place that is conquered by the square with the three churches and the Metropolis of Constance and Ammochostos, the monument in the memory of the Hero Tasos Markou, Major General, the monument of the Mother from Paralimni, the monument of the dead people during the unionist struggle in 1955-59, of the missing and dead people during the Turkish invasion in 1974 and the park for children, was a huge field with orange trees.
Today there is a small part of that field that really gives a different accent, contrasting with the concrete and asphalt. There, where orange trees used to be, now shops and cafeterias are ‘planted’.
The square does not have a precise architectural orientation, so you can see shops following a traditional architecture next to a cafeteria that follows a rather modern style. There are three churches in the area, and each one of them has its own style.
