The fishing hideout, or otherwise the fishing harbor at the river in Liopetri, belonging to the Ammochostos district, is a narrow strip of sea which penetrates on dry land, creating a wonderful and secure hideout for the fishing boats of the area, as well as a beautiful landscape.
The visitor may spend his time beautifully, laying on the white beach. The only two restaurants of the area are always filled with people and they offer a great variety of traditional dishes and drinks.
What creates a negative impression to the visitor, are some rudimentar huts that look like caravans and that have filled the small coppice with acacias. The administrative committee of the “river’’ should evict the squatters and free the small forest for the visitors to benefit from it.
In addition to that, the worst impression is given by the way the fishermen try to protect their nets from being stolen. The fence from the land side of the boat does not offer anything. On the contrary, it gives the tourist and the local visitor the the worst impressions, and it deprives them from accessing the river banks, and it is a shame for such a place to be surrounded with railings. In the end of the day, the shores are the people’s property and not of the 5-10 fishermen.
