Agios Theodoros of Skarinou belonging to Larnaca’s district, is found built on one of the island’s most beautiful valleys. The roadway from the lowest point of the Pentaschoinos riverbed that begins from the junction of the road F108 and B1, follows the reverbed for more than 7 kilometres and ends up on the shores of Agios Theodoros’ beach.
During the whole journey, you pass through orange tree orchards, mandarin trees and toward the end, olive trees, at the same time where the river accompanies you until the shores. The Pentaschoinos valley is surrounded by very tall hillsides that in some cases, can only be defeated by the thousands of crows.
Agios Theodoros, built in the valley that is sculpted by Petaschoinos for over a million years, either climbs the steep valley banks, or descends to the tide of the bed. In the centre of the village, there is an incredibly beautiful bridge that joins the two parts of the village. Unfortunately the local residents do not realise the beauty of the bridge, and use it as a parking place, preventing the visitors from admiring it.
The village used to be mixed up until 1963. After the tragic facts of that period, the Turkish Cypriots left, resulting to today’s existence of whole neighbourhoods with ruins.
Besides the huge development that took place, including constructions, touristic and agricultural, agrotourism works very well for the community, providing suitable accommodation. In the picturesque, narrow streets you can find taverns, coffee shops and a small community park that complies with all requirements for safe usage by small children.
The municipal mansion, built on the west side of Pentaschoinos and close to classical houses of the village, matches very well with the surrounding environment. The monument in memory of the village’s heroes, that gave their lives in Cypriot battles, is found in the yard of the municipal mansion, and it is there to remind us all of our duty.
On the beaches, you can find fish taverns, where you can taste fish coming from the Cypriot seas and other traditional dishes.
