Agios Epifanios church in Alethriko was built in 1932, with the money of the poor residents of Alethriko, that was retained by a tax collector called Costas Ellinas.
After a so-called miracle of Agios Georgios, caused the tax collector’s repentance. It is said that during liturgy, a great crackling noise from the beams was heard and the believers thought that the church would collapse and dashed out to the exit, resulting to them getting crushed. Amongst them, was the tax collector.
After they saw that the church had no problem, they talked about a miracle, while the tax collector promised to build a new church. And thus it happened.
