Vavatsinia is found in the mountainous Larnaca, nested in thick pine woods. You can go to the village by following two geographically opposite directions. One of them is by taking the new road to Limassol. At the Skarinou exit, leave the motorway and take the uphill to Lefkara. It is a very beautiful and pleasant journey, that the uphill rewards you with wonderful landscapes. Pass by Lefkara, and continue going uphill on the way to Vavatsinia through a thick pine forest. The time of the journey from Nicosia is about 45 minutes and about 55 kilometres.
The other way to go is more extreme. Getting from Nicosia to the Machairas monastery, and after you have done your pilgrims, you go uphill towards the Tzionia mountains, where at its highest peak there is an equipped fire brigade observatory of the Cypriot forest department all year round. A little bit further, there is a picnic area, where you can rest and taste the cold, crystal water coming from the natural sources of the mountain, under the shade of the tall walnut trees. After you get a rest, you can descend the south side of the mountains and through a meandrous but pleasant 10 minute route, you reach the heart of Vavatsinia.
