Vavla, the village found on the highlands of Larnaka, is built at a height of 450 metres from the sea level and its houses are placed on a steep slope of the mountain, something that makes you see this village from far and think that the houses are built on each other.
All the houses are made of stone and the most remarkable of all is that even the roads and steep streets are are also paved in stone tiles. According to what we have been told, only thirty people live in the village. You will not find young couples here. There are families from abroad that live there at intervals.
There is a chapel called “Panagia tis agapis” (our Lady of Love). A strange and not at all Christian rumour is related to this chapel. It is said that if a woman in love takes sand from the courtyard of this chapel and throws it in the water or the coffee of her beloved one, then he is transformed into a passionate lover and chases her.
A little bit outside the village, you will find Agios Minas monastery and the church dedicated to Agios Stylianos.
Here someone can find really good opportunities to buy a house, since many of them are for sale.
For someone who wants perfect silence, Vavla is the best place for them. You open your window and your eye travels miles away.
