Pathways in Cyprus - Pathkies tou Agiou path - Oroklini, Larnaca

The hill dominating over the village of Oroklini in the district of Larnaca, apart from “hosting” the beautiful chapel of the 16th century dedicated to Prophet Ilias on its peak, and that it can offer its visitor an area where they can spend amazing hours of rest, it also offers a very interesting and easy trail of nature to walkers.

The beginning and the end of the path that has the name “Pathkies tou Agiou” is the picnic area of Oroklini, found a hundred metres southwest of the old Church in the honour of Prophet Ilias.

Along the journey you will first see the chapel of the Prophet and then the trail going downhill meandrically since at each step a special image of the village of Oroklini will be revealed to you. Your glance will “spread” from the outskirts of Dhekelia on the east, until the port of Larnaca and even a little further on the west. From there you can watch the ships approaching the port as well as the yachts that “plow” the beaches of Oroklini.

Upon going downhill, the trail will take you to a rocky location where on the rock there are human traces. It is said that the “footprints of the Saint” that appear on the hard rock are due to the Saint who was ascending to the peak of Arodafni.

During the whole journey of eight kilometres, that make up the distance from the beginning to the end, the trail never becomes monotonous. Thus, if you find yourselves at the picnic area of Oroklini, let the others prepare the souvla and walk along the trail.
