Park Of Natural Vegetation

Parks in Cyprus - Park Of Natural Vegetation, Psematismenos, Larnaca, Cyprus

Added on: by

In Psematismenos village, that belongs to the Larnaca district, you can find probably the only park of natural vegetation in Cyprus. It embraces a few dozens of perennial olive trees.

It is a found on the southwest side of the village, very close to the Agia Marina Church. After the church, you turn at the first exit on the right and after that, on the second one on the left and you will get to the park. There is a traced path, that passes by all the trees, thus it is not needed - and it is prohibited anyway - to walk out of its boundaries.

Some of the olive trees are enormous and many people are needed to hug their trunks.

If someone takes the time to notice, they will see that there are many perennial olive trees in the area. The most possible is that about 500-600 years ago there was an organised plantation of these trees in the valley.
