A part of the history of Cyprus was lost along with the Tower of Choirokoitia, that was the fortified castle of the area during the period of the Frank domination.
The Tower was demolished by the Ottoman Mamluks during the year 1426, when they invaded the island. These were the winners of a war and thus they destroyed the fortifications of the loser.
Today everything that is leftover from the Tower, along with its history, has been buried under the wild plants. As you can see, it does not bring any income. Therefore, it does not deserve being restored or at least taken care of.
The Tower of Choirokoitia is found 200 metres south of the Byzantine Church of Panagia tou Kampou.
