The Skarinou Station is found on the height of the Pentaschoinos riverbed and it can be met while travelling from Nicosia, Larnaca and Ammochostos towards Limassol.
In order to understand the value of the Station and the necessity of its creation, we should travel back to the beginning of 1900, when the Cypriot traders, travellers, pilgrims and those who just wanted to go to Limassol and Paphos, they passed by this place, where there was a small bridge above Pentaschoinos. Some progressive Skarinou resident, noticed that the travellers stopped to water and to feed their animals. This is how he thought of and started offering different services to the travellers. As years passed, the number of people passing from that point of the river augmented and the premises built under the tall trees, were established as a Station.
Up until a few decades ago, it was inconceivable for someone to pass by and not stop to take a rest. The trip to Limassol and Paphos lasted for the first one many hours, and for the second one, many days. With the increase of cars on the island, and after the tragic incidents in 1974, the necessity of the opening of new roads towards the above mentioned cities was more than urgent. As such, with the creation of the new 4-lane motorway, the people stopped going to the Skarinou Station.
Today there are two restaurants, out of which only one is in function. Nevertheless, the beauty of the landscape did not change at all. It is the same during the past 90 years.
