The first settlers of Louvaras started arriving in the area in the beginning of the 15th century, came from the settlement found on the slope of the mountain peak northeast of the location where the village is found today.
Their first action was to build a Church. They built a small Church and dedicated it to Agios Mamas. It is a small Basilica with a gabled, wooden roof with tiles.
It is built out of stone taken from the ravines nearby and this gives them a particular architectural beauty and value. It has two entrance on the southern wall and a small window on the north. Another small window is found in the centre of the narthex.
It is found build east of the village, very close to the big church of Timios Prodromos and it dominates over a green ravine. The street that takes you to it, transforms into an alley where cypress trees dominate and flowering bushes give their perfume.
The Church is closed, but you can ask from people in nearby houses to open it for you. They will help you willingly.
