In Monagroulli of Limassol, there is a Church dedicated to Agios Theodoros Tironas from 1900, who is celebrated on the 17th of February.
Agios Theodoros got the name of ‘Tironas’ from his rankings in the Roman legions. In Latin, Tiro means “inductee”. His life was given to Christianity and he martyred for his faith on the 17th of February when he was thrown in a furnace after being tortured.
