The Governor’s beach, as it is well known to everyone, is found on the perimeter that is covered by the Pentakomo community of Limassol. It is a beach line of 2 kilometres, with magnificent, sandy beaches, and with a waving light blue flag.
But there is also another side of the Governor’s beach. A side that is wild, with very deep crystal waters, that demand good swimming skills. If this is not the case, it is better that you stay on the beaches that are intended for common swimmers. This wild side, that has small, ‘hidden’ beaches of a few dozen metres, is the side we want to present to you. We would like to address those who are fascinated by the wild beauty of the sea.
Therefore, if you would like to walk along this beach, you should be in good shape, since the narrow paths, in many cases literally take you over the point where waves brakes. It is a journey west of the entertainment centres of the Governor’s Beach, taking you to the monastery of Agios Georgios Alamanos.
Depending on the period of year that you shall walk along the paths, you will see and get to know many endemic plants. Even if the journey from Governor’s beach until the monastery is not very long (about 3 kilometres), it has many hidden surprises due to a change of landscapes.
The small, sandy beaches, that are hidden with high rocks, will challenge you. Make your journey take place early in the morning, in order to have music company coming from the fishing vessels. Stand on the edge of the rocks and gaze on the fish competitions. If you have a fishing cane with you, you can ensure your lunch. The sea area in this place is a huge aquarium with many fish.
A few years ago, Governor’s beach was a place for caravans, which ruined its uniqueness. Today, it is a quiet beach with many beautiful sides, and apart from swimming and fishing, there are also routes for walking, something that many people benefit from.
