On the east beaches of the city of Limassol, on the perimeter of Agios Tychonas, elements of human presence were found, that are dated in the Neolithic period.
In the Amathounta area, in Agios Tychonas, excavations have brought to light an ancient city, whose precise dates of construction could not be established by man.
Excavations up to date, have revealed an acropolis, the agora, the baths, the isle of Aphrodite, the palace and a number of headquarters, as well as the walls and the necropolis.
The town’s port is found under the sea level and it is only visible from high above. The secondary buildings of the port and the warehouses are found on the shore.
