East of the small village found in the semi mountain area of Limassol with the name “Kouka”, there is a natural source of potable water. It is found on the east of the road taking you from Pera Pedi to Kouka, in a small ravine, at a distance of 50 metres from the road.
From the very old years, the source watered the fields that existed in all of the valley. In 1909, their effort to take advantage of the water at its maximum, they embellished it and created a faucet. In 1929, after a strong earthquake that happened in the area, the water of the faucet stopped flowing.
After some time, about a hundred metres away, the water managed to gush out onto the surface. This time the water was a lot less in terms of quantity, but it was enough to irrigate the fields of the settlers of Kouka.
Today the water wells out from the earth and waters the few fields that are left in the ravine. With the initiative taken by the Mukhtar of Kouka, Mr Melis, the area of the faucet was planted with platanus trees, that grow with the help of its water.
