The picnic area of Kellaki is found a kilometre away from the entrance of the village on the road of Kellaki-Sanida and only a few hundreds of metres before the Zoodochou Pigis (Life giving Spring) Monastery.
It is placed on the peak and on the south slope of the hill and from there, the excursionist, has the possibility to observe Limassol, Akrotiri, the salt Lake of Limassol and the villages found northwest of the town of Limassol.
It is a well-organised place and it provides facilities to all types of people, with easy access to barbecues, to sheltered tables with seats, to potable water and to sanitaries.
For the younger excursionists, there is an adequately organised play place. Here, indeed the planners of the picnic area have perfectly applied the regulations of creation of a safe play place. This play place is fenced, so as to avoid the children getting out of it if they get out of the view of their guardians.
The ground at all the area of the play place is covered with a special material, so as to avoid any type of traumatism in case a child falls down. At all its area, the picnic place is found covered with a type of trees that covers a great area of the forests of Cyprus, Pine trees.
There is a slight difference. The pine trees in the picnic area are umbrella pines, or as it is also called “domesticated”, and as it is known, it is not affected by the pine processionary. Therefore you should not worry about possible bites by the insect. On the contrary, during the appropriate season, you will be able to gather whole kilogrammes of pine cone seeds, the famous pine nuts.
On the east of the village, a deserted chapel dedicated to the Archangel is found. The excursionists that will light up wood for food preparation, should throw away the rests of carbon in the area which is specially constructed, to avoid any fires.
