The female Monastery of Zoodochou Pigis or as it is better known “Panagia Glossa”, is found as you leave the village of Kellaki belonging to the Limassol district, in the direction of the village of Sanida. From the entrance of the Kellaki village, where you can find the community park and the welcoming to the village board, you take the turn on your right that takes you to the village of Sanida.
After you pass the viewpoint that is found at the first 100 metres of the journey, you must cover another 700 metres and you will see the “Archangelos” picnic area on your left. Leaving it behind you, in 500 metres onward, on your left once again, you shall see the Monastery.
Being built on the peak of a hill, in a thick pinetree forest, the visitor is directly surrounded by the silence and the sacredness of the place.
Just like all the Monasteries, the Zoodochou Pigis Monastery is closed to visitors at some hours. It is closed from 1pm until 3pm. The rest of the day you can visit the inside of the Monastery and fulfill your religious duties, or just see and observe the Churches that are found in the walled area.
On the left side of the central entrance, there is a tap with holy water.
Currently, constructive works are taking place at the Monastery, for the rearrangement of the yard and this is why there is some inconvenience.
The Monastery was built in 1976 in the place of an old, smaller church and at a very short period of time it became widely known about the miracles the icon of Our Lady performed.
People from all over the world with health problems arrive at this place to pray and to ask for redemption. For this reason, Our Lady is called “Panagia tou Glossa”.
If you are going to visit the Monastery, make sure you are appropriately dressed.
