The Parish Church of Akapnou is dedicated to Agios Georgios. It is built on the peak of a hill on whose slopes the houses of the village “spread”. A small, paved square surrounds the Church.
It is a very old construction, and this is why the Department of Antiquities promised its few settlers that it will undertake the restoration and repairs of all the damages present. Up until today nothing has been done. The few settlers do not have the means to get on to repairing their beautiful Church on their own.
It is a single aisled Basilica that has a gabled, wooden vault. The tiles that cover the Church have been fabricated by the builders, at the time and place of its construction.
In order to enter the Church, as from the Mukhtar to open it for you.
