Limassol’s Medieval Castle is situated opposite the old port of the town. It is a 1191 construction and according to tradition, this is the place where Richard the Lionheart got married to Berengaria.
The initial construction was greatly destroyed by continuous earthquakes that hit Cyprus in 1567. During the Ottoman empire, the castle had been restored, but to smaller dimensions.
To get into the castle you have to pay fees that come up to 4,50 euros. As we have been told at the entrance.. the elders may enter at the price of 2 euros. To enter the grounds of the castle and the toilets, the entrance is free.
All around the castle there are shops and places of leisure.
