Monagroulli is a village belonging to Limassol and we find it at a distance of 15 kilometres east from it. It is a very beautiful village with two sides. One of them is the old village, with its narrow streets, the old church and the houses that belong to another period. The other one, is the one with big villas and swimming pools.
The village, with its poor income, puts projects in place for both of its entrances. Next to the community council offices, there is a very beautiful, reconstructed bridge. In the same place you can find a park for children and a basketball court, while in the depth you can see the chapel of Agia Paraskevi. This chapel is built in the rock and merits being seen by someone.
The fact that the only church in the village, which, it should be noted, is built in its centre, is always closed, is troubling. Thus, no one can get into its yard from the main entrance.
The village got its name from the fact that in the olden years, it was the field where the monks from the of Agios Georgios Alamanos’ monastery close by, planted everything they needed for their survival. Thus, since it was the monastery’s field, the settlement that was built there, was called Monagroulli.
