The Holy Church of Panagia Iamatikis is found in the village of Arakapas, in the Limassol district. Upon entering the village from the east side, after you pass the bridge that is found at the river amathos, you will see the old church of Panagia tis Iamatikis inside the cemetery, on your right and it is exactly opposite of the new church.
It is built in a big square, next to the community park and the monument in the honour of the heroes of the community and you can easily visit it.
It is a construction of 1882 and it is a single aisled basilica. It is stone built and it is said that the icon of the Virgin that is drawn on the skin of an animal has the ability to cure patients, and this is why you will see many people coming to worship her Church.
In order to be able to enter the church, you will have to come into contact with a settler of the village that has the keys. There is a number on the wall that you can call.
Just a few metres before the Church, right after the old church, there is an exit on the right. If you follow this exit, in 2500 metres it will take you to the point where through a rock the holy water of Panagia tis Iamatikis wells out.
At 2500 metres you will find the small shrine and a wooden cross. Park and continue by foot, along the downhill towards the bed of the confluent of Amathos. The dirt road does not exceed 200 metres and it takes you to a very beautiful confluent environment. On the east shore of the river, there is a place where the holy water “ascends” to the earth’s surface.
