The non organised beach of Agios Georgios Alamanos, that belongs to the Monagroulli community has a length of about two kilometres. There are quite a few small, unseen bays that are appropriate for swimming.
The wild and pristine beauty of the beach, stimulates the interest of many holidaymakers, locals and foreigners, that literally flood the shore.
There are two fish taverns, that offer different kinds of services to the swimmers. One of them is found on the shore and has a great grass area that is good for sun tanning. Showers are free, as well as the sun beds.
There are no lifeguards, therefore you should take care. Apart from this part of the beach, there is also another one, which is rocky, with small ‘individual’ bays. In the area, there are dozens of sea caves, that are only visible from the sea. One of them, extends to a distance of over 90 metres. A legend goes around saying that the cave is connected to the ancient kingdom of Amathus that is found in a distance of 3 kilometres. When the kingdom was captured by the Saracens, the Queen of Amathus managed to escape through this cave taking her treasure with her. This treasure was hidden in the cave in order to be able to rebuild Amathounta when she came back. Of course, as we know she never did. A myth? History? Who knows?
