The picnic area of Asinou is found a few hundreds of metres before the Byzantine church of Panagia Asinou (Our Lady of Asinou).
It is a small picnic area with a capacity of about 150 people. It includes a small park for children and some games, as well as spaces appropriately equipped for food.
It is strictly forbidden by the Department of Forests to light fire and all trespassers shall have great fines to pay. The picnic area is found in a green ravine. There is a narrow strip of land and two very high pinetree slopes on each side.
The beauty of the landscape in combination with the history of the area make its protection a priority for the Department of Forests, so as to avoid any danger of fire, and this is why it has been decided to prohibit food cooking in the picnic area.
