Kampia village is built on a plateau of the mountains of Machairas. From there, the observer can have a panoramic view of the gulf of Morphou, and even the easter sides of Nicosia.
The altitude is at 500 metres, the climate over there offers mild winters and cool summers. The first village was built on the west side of the new settlement, in the depth of the valley of the biggest dry river of Cyprus, called Pediaios. Today, there are only some ruins and the chapel of Agios Georgios.
In Kampia, a long time ago there was a mine that was functional. At its abandonment, it left many galleries behind, as well as a huge natural lake. The area is open for explorations, in unspoilt landscapes. You can go hiking on vertical gorges. There are thousands of pigeons making their presence clear. Very few people know about the existence of the area called «the Angels hillside» and the unbelievable beauty of the place. Paths that guide you into the thick pinewood. They take you down to the riverbed, but they also take you up until the ancient cave called Drakontospilio, that has dozens of branches. The cave was used by the first residents of the area to hide from raiders.
The new village, is being built parallel to the road from Nicosia to Kapedes. Kampia is a very good choice for many kinds of tourism. From agrotourism, to athletic tourism, and it also offers few day stays and long-term holidays. You will only be disappointed by your stay at the village if you like the sea.
Neatness. Sufficient services. Low prices. The people are simple and ready to serve you. Kampia, for all these reasons, and for many others, have been chosen by Cypriots and foreigners as a living place. This is also proven by the luxurious houses that do not stop being built.
