Kato Koutrafas village is a few kilometres after Astromeritis on the way to Troodos. It is an abandoned village and its few residents mostly deal with agriculture and livestock.
The village’s church is dedicated to Virgin Mary. Her icon is said to be miraculous. We were surprised by some resident’s insistence for us to buy the icon of our Lady. With this kind of behaviour, you cannot increase your income from the visitors. The Temple has a very old construction and it dominates the entrance of Koutrafas.
A visit in the area will be made only for the sake of the Temple and nothing more, unless you like ruins, abandoned somelike agricultural machines, and elastic tyres belonging to trucks that decorate the sides of the only road penetrating the ruins.
If there is no local authority in the village, so that the place gets cleaned, the district administration should take action, since even ruins, when taken care of and clean, can attract visitors.
