Katydata is a small village in the Nicosia district and has about one hundred residents. Its houses are found under the ‘shadow’ of the Skouriotissa metal mine. It got its name from the underground waters it has been blessed to have.
It is a place where you cannot have holidays because the silence of the village is often broken by huge lorries that work at the mine. This mine has been helping the island’s economy for decades.
While entering the village, there is a very old church dedicated to Saint John the Theologian.
In general you can spend some hours wandering in the few narrow streets of the village.
In the centre there is a Museum of mining heritage that has been created by the community council (we did not find it open and this is why we do not have photographs of it).
