One of the two dams that are found in the village of Lythrodontas, is accessible on the road going towards the Monastery of Profitis Ilias, south of the village and it is called “Pano Fragma” (Upper Dam).
It is a construction of 1952 and it works with gravity. Its dyke has a height of ten metres and its basin can hold 32,000 cubic metres of water.
It is found on the flow of the confluent of Gialias, Koutsos. The runoff basin of the river is found on the southeast slopes of the mountain peaks of Kionia.
We found thousands of used cartridges on its shores, which reveals that some inconscient hunters use the dam to set traps for the thirsty birds and animals, which is prohibited by law.
