The picnic area of Agia is found in the valley created by the river of Ezousa. It is at a distance of about 10 kilometres from the Stavros tis Psokas picnic area. It is a dirt road in the forest. Even though the Department of Forests takes care of it quite often and cleans it from landslides, it is possible that at your journey you need to move some big rocks.
The picnic area is found in the space between the river of Ezousa and one of its confluents. The two rivers connect south of the village. The impressive thing about the confluent is that its sources well out from the base of the roots of high platanus trees.
There are grills for food preparation, as well as other facilities. In addition, the area may host people on wheelchairs. It has the capacity to serve 200 people. At summer periods this capacity seems to be too small compared to the number of excursionists who arrive from all over Cyprus to rest under the shadow of the cedrus, hazelnut and platanus trees of the area. Unfortunately we realised that a huge walnut tree that existed a few metres from the riverbed, was no longer there. Ten small oak trees got its place.
The picnic area of Agia is conserved and kept clean by the Department of Forests that also supervises it. The fact that it is far away from any disturbing noise makes it an attractive destination for short excursions away from the town. It may be combined with a visit to the beautiful dam of Kannaviou. The dirt road may be used as a path of observation of nature by walkers, as well as a cycling road.
